Run on the River is Astoria’s premier spring road race, set for Saturday, May 30, 2026, along the scenic Astoria Riverwalk and surrounding waterfront. The event offers runners and walkers a choice of three distances: a Half Marathon (13.1 mi / 21.1 km), a 10 K (6.2 mi), and a 5 K (3.1 mi), making it welcoming for athletes of all abilities and goals.
Participants enjoy a mostly flat, fast course that highlights Astoria’s riverfront charm and maritime scenery. Races start in the morning, with walkers beginning earliest, followed by runners in the longer distances. Each entrant receives a locally made stamped glass finisher’s medal, a race shirt, and a beverage from a local sponsor, and finishers can relax and celebrate at the post-race party featuring food, music, and community spirit. Proceeds from the event support youth-oriented programs through the Astoria Parks, Recreation & Community Foundation, including swimming lessons and scholarships for local sports and activities.
Whether you’re chasing a personal best in the half marathon, enjoying a brisk 10 K run, or walking the 5 K with friends and family, Run on the River combines fitness, fun, and community energy in a beautiful Oregon coastal setting.
