Conquering Mountains
Buddies often say to each other, “we should run the XYZ marathon together”, or “we should climb xyz mountain together, but for one reason or another…they rarely do.
My buddy Jayson is one of those guys that loves to conquer big challenges. Sometimes he’s ill prepared, but he isn’t afraid to go for it, I’ll give him that. So when he finally pulled the trigger and showed up in central Colorado, I was pretty certain he’d have literal mountain to climb in his head. After a couple of warm up hikes and a few days of altitude acclimation (still not enough in my opinion) we chose Mount Princeton. Ranking 4th highest in the collegiate range of 14er’s in Colorado, the hike would test both Jayson and I with roughly three thousand feet of elevation gain, over 3.5 miles of hiking.
